I have always dreamed of going somewhere, somewhere I can watch the sunrise and wander along the pebble beaches. Somewhere I can breathe a different kind of air while gazing out into the deep blue sea. When I can escape from everything just for a moment, I gain a source of delightful energy. That is how I felt while being in Nice for the last few days of my study abroad journey. Nice was like my escape to paradise and a time to reflect and enjoy every last bit of being in Europe!
Nice is the largest city on the French Riviera and the perfect place for a short visit if you are ever in France. Its no wonder it’s known to be a place for retirees. Its main attraction is its stunning sea and long pebble beaches! Stroll along the Promenade des Anglais to see the beauty of the Mediterranean sea. Go to castle hill to see the sea from a different view. It’ll feel like you are on top of the world.
I spent most of my time shopping and buying last minute souvenirs. There are so many areas in Nice where you can shop. From department stores to souvenir shops, there is always something to look at when you are here. I love the cute small shops that surround the Cours Saleya. If you want to shop at department stores, Galeries Lafayette and the Nice Etoile is the place for you. But the main shopping street is Avenue Jean Medecin!
The best part of my travels is eating! If I sum up my spending report, about 70% of it was on food. There are so many good restaurants and cafes along the Promenade des Anglais where you can dine in. Make sure you try one of France’s specialty, Buttered Escargot!
My experience was a great one. If I get the chance to do it again, I wouldn’t even hesitate! I highly recommend you to explore the world, be open-minded, and grow through experiences like these. Traveling can be scary, and there may be obstacles and barriers, but in the end, you’ll realize that you can do it! It’ll just be another challenge to tackle on like any other challenges.
I wanted to give a shout out to my good friend Kathleen for being my photographer and making fun memories with me that I can cherish forever. You are so wonderful, and I am glad it is you who I traveled with. Thank you, Kathleen!
